G1 — About

A builder, a shop, and a drawing habit

I’m Tim. I’ve spent nearly six years building outdoor structures — 70-plus decks, covers, pergolas, and fences across Portland and the east side — and I still draw every project before I price it.

The drawing habit isn’t decoration. A project that’s been drawn has been thought through: the ledger detail, the footing locations, the way the rail dies into the stair. The drawing is where problems get solved for free, instead of on your patio at time-and-materials rates. It’s also why this website looks the way it does — the annotated photos you’ve been seeing are how I actually communicate on a jobsite.

The shop is in Happy Valley, twenty minutes from most of our jobsites. Most weeks I’m in the city — SE and NE bungalows, west-side slopes — and the rest of the time east of 205, turning builder-grade backyards into rooms.

If you’d like to talk to past clients before we meet, ask. I’ll connect you with homeowners whose projects match yours — same material, same kind of lot. References with context beat stars without it.
